Meta Acquires Manus

Meta has acquired Manus, an AI agent platform from Singapore with Chinese roots¹. Two billion dollars, negotiated in ten days². Manus automates workflows and completes tasks like market research, data analysis, or travel planning. That’s exactly what the industry is talking about when they say 2026 will be the year of agents.

What’s interesting isn’t the deal itself but the signal behind it. Meta apparently sees agents as the next step after chatbots. The platform is to be integrated into Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Whether that pans out remains to be seen. But it shows how seriously the topic is being taken there.
