Boris Cherny Uses Claude Code With Almost No Customization

Boris Cherny, the creator of Claude Code, shared on X how he uses the tool himself. His setup is “surprisingly vanilla,” he writes, because Claude Code works well enough out of the box that he barely customizes anything.¹

“My setup might be surprisingly vanilla! Claude Code works great out of the box, so I personally don’t customize it much.”

In an interview, he adds that he sees himself in the “everyone else bucket” and doesn’t have a “crazy setup.”² If a feature works for him, it’s a good indicator that it will work for everyone else too.
